The sun was warm today, but the air was cool and breezy — perfect weather for hunting. Armed and ready to shoot, I went out to the desert with a group of hikers to search for . . . wildflowers.
It wasn’t hard to find what we were looking for. Lupine and coreopsis lined the road.
Goldfields carpeted vast swaths of land.
Patches of poppies and chia sprung up on hillsides.
And dainty cream cups soaked up the sun alongside poppies.
Most of the time, the desert seems drab, with little color to break the beige monotony, so today was a real treat!

You had me going for a second there, Pat. I was about to ask why fishing wasn’t okay but hunting was! Nice photos, by the way. Very beautiful nature shots.

Hah! Glad to have fooled you if only for a second. It is funny, though, how so often photographic terminology fits the more violent kind of hunting.

Or kind of disturbing. I guess that means I like it! 🙂

A perfect day indeed… and you captured some *wonderful* photos! Our spring flowers are just beginning… daffodils, forsythia and cherry blossoms are showing up in several places near town, but not much in the wild except for dandelions. While I have no objection to my hubby’s hunting trips (with rifle) since we need the meat, I love to take my camera out and shoot bits of beauty.

It’s a good thing I don’t need to hunt to get meat. I’d be an instant vegetarian. I seem to be heading that direction, anyway.
